Palau - Day 5

Day 5 was a relaxation day for me...I took a bike ride just to get
out for a bit...Each day we were here the weather got better and
better...I took some pictures of some of the coast line and such
so you can see the beauty of this place in the sunlight.

Map of the island...We are on Koror which is the first small
island below Babeldaob.

This is a map of Koror...This is the whole area where
Survivor Fans vs Favorites was filmed.

The harbor area.

This is Sams Tours, our drop off point for the ship...They
were great hosts for us and arranged a bunch of the activities
that we all did.

Palau - Day 4 (Road Trip) Part 2

This was an option if I wanted to do a "Jungle Tour"

More ceremonial huts.

Not sure what caused the roadway to give out
since there was no river near by.

Looking back the other way...The drop at the far
end is about 4 feet.

If you look at the far end of the landscape you can
see a domed building out in the middle of nowhere.

This is what it was...The nations capital...It sits on
the very northern part of the island...30 miles from
85% of the population...From what I was told it was
very contriversial when it was built.

Side view of the Capital.

The ocean view from the capital building.

More ocean view from the Capital.

Continuing on my trip...

Palau - Day 4 (Road Trip) Part 1

My road trip started out on the small island of Koror
(where 85-90% of the population lives) and then heading
up to the main island to explore. As you will see the island
is very diverse. It goes from tropical jungle along the
coast to overgrown fields inland.

This is the new museum for the island.

This was an old site of stones...Not sure what it
was but you can see a seating area at the end.

This is a ceremonial hut being refurbished.

I found out quickly that you dont get off the main
road. The main road circles the main island and
these little feeders start as paved roads for a few
hundred yards but then they quickly go to gravel
and then mud. And they narrow as you go along too.

It was a cloudy and scattered showers kind of day
as you can see.

My rental SUV. Check out the tires and the side
of the car. Good thing it rained later on. LOL
