Tribute to the USNS Lummus Crew

As I leave the USNS Lummus for the last time
before she sails stateside I just wanted to say a few
words in honor of this fine ships crew. I know I'll
forget someone so Ill apologize now...Its not that
I forgot you, just a slip of the memory as Im writing
this out...
To the Masters...I always enjoy sailing with you both...Over
the years this has become my favorite ship to work on...You
both have outstanding crews and you all have become very
much like family to me...
To the Chief Mates/Mates...Thank you so much for your hospitality
and hard work keeping the ship safe at sea as well as in port...
Dan, as always I enjoy your training on Fridays...I learned
so much from "drill days" about the ship.
John B, I will miss our talks at night on the bridge and remember, I
did my best to keep you happy with the internet...lol...I wish you
the best in the next chapter of your life...Stay in touch man!
Scott, Dont forget Sarah P in 2012!! When I see you again you
better have that calander I made you hanging up in your room...
:-)
To all the Engineers, I dont see you much (being youre down deep
in the hole...lol) but I do appreciate all your hard work keeping the
lights on and keeping the water fresh for drinking and showers...
Amoungst the 1000's of other things you do for us...
To the Deck Hands, The ship wouldnt run without you all...We all
know who really runs the ship right? Bos'n Bill has a great group
of people keeping the ship looking great and running strong...
Jeff, Keep Boz-Man straight on the bridge ok?
To the Stewards Dept...Thanks for all the great food...Its hard
to lose weight with you all around...
Kathleen, Thanks so much for everything...Like I told you, the
first words most of us ask when we come is "Who is the Chief
Steward?"...We know with you around we have nothing to worry
about...I'll miss you and I wish you all the best...You deserve
all the good the world has to give...
You have surrounded yourself with some great people:
Evelyn: What can I say...You take good care of us with all those
baked goods...Im going to miss ya!
To all the servers: Thanks just isnt enough...You all make serving
on there so much easier as we are away from our families...
To the Honeywell crew...Thanks for all your hard work in the holds
keeping the equuipment up and running smoothly...I'll miss your
laugh on the Mess Decks Roland!
Todd: Make sure Scott stays in line and your my eyes that his
calander is proudly displayed...lol
We will make him a Conservative and FOX-lover yet!
Lastly to Secure West: Jum, we are sorry to see you all go but
we know you will be back someday...Thanks for keeping the
ship safe while we are out playing on the beach...You and your
guys have always been so friendly and professional with us all
and you will be missed...
I do not know when our paths will cross again but I lastly wish
you all a safe journey across the pond and I wish you all a
Merry Christmas and a Happy 2010!

Hello all!
Just a few more pictures I got to take while in
the midst of moving to the Pless.
Enjoy!

Our first day aboard the Pless gave us a "Welcome
Aboard" Bar-B-Q on the back patio.

View of Guam from the "patio".

Me after I finished some steak. Good food!
Do you like the start of the Grizzley Adams look?

Last sunset in Guam.

Palau - Day 5

Day 5 was a relaxation day for me...I took a bike ride just to get
out for a bit...Each day we were here the weather got better and
better...I took some pictures of some of the coast line and such
so you can see the beauty of this place in the sunlight.

Map of the island...We are on Koror which is the first small
island below Babeldaob.

This is a map of Koror...This is the whole area where
Survivor Fans vs Favorites was filmed.

The harbor area.

This is Sams Tours, our drop off point for the ship...They
were great hosts for us and arranged a bunch of the activities
that we all did.

Up on the helo deck with Palau in the background.

The following mornings sunrise.

Palau - Day 4 (Road Trip) Part 2

This was an option if I wanted to do a "Jungle Tour"

More ceremonial huts.

Not sure what caused the roadway to give out
since there was no river near by.

Looking back the other way...The drop at the far
end is about 4 feet.

If you look at the far end of the landscape you can
see a domed building out in the middle of nowhere.

This is what it was...The nations capital...It sits on
the very northern part of the island...30 miles from
85% of the population...From what I was told it was
very contriversial when it was built.

Side view of the Capital.

The ocean view from the capital building.

More ocean view from the Capital.

Continuing on my trip...
